Have you ever finished a job interview with that intangible feeling that this is the company you are supposed to work for? Luckily I have, and it happened one day last October when I came into the Superior Consulting Services (SCS) office and sat down with Andy Mauch, sales and recruiting manager for SCS, for my first interview. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what made me feel this way when I walked away from the interview that day. I just had this feeling that the people I met during the interview were people who I could trust. I had done my research, so I knew that there was a lot of talent within SCS.
I was invited for a second interview, which wasn’t a complete surprise to me since the first one had gone well. What I didn’t expect was how comfortable I felt during the second interview describing my employment history and my experiences in software development. I am fairly certain that I was not the most technically qualified candidate for the job, but the team at SCS was able to see that I am a very determined individual when it comes to facing challenges.
Now that I have been working for SCS for the past nine months, I can put that intangible feeling I had when I first walked through these doors into the top three reasons I enjoy working for SCS:
- Good leadership. The leadership team at SCS truly cares about my welfare – and that has been a key ingredient to my happiness. This is the first job I have ever had where the president/owner of the company personally takes an interest in your well-being and makes sure to let you know that your efforts are appreciated.
- Kind and helpful coworkers. The people at SCS are just simply good people! I know I can count on anyone to pitch in on a project or provide advice on something I might be wondering about.
- The best software development talent in the Twin Cities. I have the pleasure of working alongside some of the best software development talent in the Twin Cities.
I feel at home at SCS and I look forward to coming to work every day. Superior Consulting truly is where I am supposed to be at this point in my career. I think I’ll stay.
