Traditionally, Superior Consulting Services (SCS) has hired consultants who bring years of experience in their respective field. Experience can be important in a consulting environment. However, in today’s ever-changing technology world, the ability to continually engage with and master new technologies is the most vital skill.
Early in SCS’ existence and again recently, we have had great success in bringing on soon-to-be college graduates who did not have extensive experience in consulting or our specific technology toolset. These individuals started as interns and grew into very successful consultants. One of these interns-turned-consultant has been with SCS for more than 20 years.
With this in mind, SCS has brought on three Associate Consultants in our Data and Analytics practice at the beginning of June. Each of these Associate Consultants is a recent college graduate exhibiting the following:
a demonstrated ability to master technical content
a passion for data analytics
an eagerness to learn new technologies
a readiness to work at applying those technologies to create business solutions
a resonance with the culture and the SCS Core Values of Ace, Heart, and Ally
SCS created a structured training program to ensure the Associate Consultants quickly master the tools used in our Data and Analytics practice. The training also includes insights into consulting as a career and the best practices for succeeding in client engagements. Additionally, SCS is providing mentors to serve as confidants, to help guide their development, and to share the lessons learned from their technology consulting experience.
The Associate Consultants will demonstrate their mastery of the SCS Data and Analytics toolset by passing several Microsoft Certification Exams. In fact, each associate will graduate from the program as a Microsoft Certified Solution Expert in Data Management and Analytics. After graduating from the associate program, these individuals will both benefit from the collective wisdom of Team SCS and enhance that collective wisdom with the unique skills and outlook each brings to the team.
